Teenager Facials

Teenager facial Acne is so common that it's considered a normal part of puberty. But knowing that doesn't always make it easier when you're looking at a big pimple on your face in the mirror. So what is acne, and what can you do about it?

The hair follicles, or contain sebaceous glands which make sebum, a lubricant for your skin and hair. As a teen's body begins to mature and develop hormones stimulate the sebaceous glands to make more sebum, making the glands become overactive. Pores become clogged if there is too much sebum and too many dead skin cells. Bacteria gets trapped inside the pores and multiply, causing swelling and redness — the start of acne.

Questions & Answers

Why Have I got Acne Breakouts Now?

Teenagers get acne caused from hormonal changes which occurs around puberty.

What should I be doing to prevent further breakouts?

It is important that you keep the skin clean. You should be cleansing your face twice in the morning, and twice in the evening, using the correct cleanser for your skin.

Shall I wear make up to cover them up?

I would always advise you not to wear make-up to cover up acne, as you need to allow the skin to breathe. But if you must wear make-up, it is important that the brand is mineral free, such as Jane Iredale or ID Bare Essentials. Mineral based make up will not further clog up your pores and contribute to acne.

Will I have spots for the rest of my life?

The answer is no. The majority of teenagers who have acne gets rid of it during their teens. It is important not to pick, squeeze or touch any spots, as this can leave you with acne scarring. I am sure you do not want to be left with a reminder that you had acne when you were a teenager later on.

Is there anything I can do to minimise the acne?
